Symptoms of CAD
Coronary artery disease can be a silent killer. The most common symptoms of CAD is angina. Angina is same as chest pain.
It is described as chest discomfort, heaviness, tightness, pressure, aching, burning, numbness, fullness, or squeezing. Some people may confuse chest pain with a heart burn. Angina often felt in the chest, but people also can feel it on the left shoulder, arms, neck, back, or jaw. In women, symptoms are less likely identified. It is more generalized and hard to detect that it is from coronary artery disease. Most common symptoms in women are pain or pressure over the chest sometimes radiating into arms or jaw. A burning sensation in the chest or upper abdomen, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, sweating, fatigue, and nausea are also common symptoms of coronary artery disease in women. |
Angina is not a heart attack. It is a warning symptom of heart disease. The table below compares angina and heart attack.
